Vita Cortex Holdings is an integrated company, operating from eight sites on the island of Ireland. Its activities are divided into the following businesses.

Polyurethane Foam: Manufacture of slab stock polyurethane foam and the conversion of a wide variety of foams for customer applications.
Non-Woven Fibre:

Manufacture of non-woven polyester fibre.
Longhaul Technologies: The manufacture of interactive seating solutions for aircraft and other markets.
Furniture Wholesale: A wholesale and distribution service of furniture - products from our Belfast and Dublin Warehouses to the UK and Ireland.
Furniture Retail: Our Retail outlet Waters & Gold stocks the full range of Cortex For Comfort products as well as a large range of contemporary and traditional Irish and International furniture.

A Brief History of Vita Cortex 1958 - 2004

1958 Company incorporated and named Cortex Proofers Ltd. Set up for the manufacture of Polyurethane Foam with allied Polyester foam for use in the Textile Trade.

1959 Production commenced. The Trade Mark "CortX" used for the marketing of the Polyurethane Foams.

1968 Probably the single most significant event since the formation of the Company took place. British Vita PLC, now one of the largest polymer engineering companies and manufacturers of Polyurethane Foams in the world, formed an association with Cortex Proofers Ltd., taking a 50% shareholding. The Company changed its name to Vita Cortex Ltd.

1973 Vita Cortex Ltd. and Seafield Gentex, in a joint venture, opened a plant in Athlone for the manufacture of non-woven fibre. In 1977 Vita Cortex Ltd. acquired complete control of this operation. This company operates under the name of VITABOND LTD and is now Irelands largest supplier of Non-woven polyester fibre to the upholstery, apparel and bedding industries.

1991 Vita Cortex Packaging Ltd. was set up at Vicars Road in Cork concentrating entirely on providing cushion packaging solutions to the computer, electronic, and healthcare industries.

1993 Both Vita Cortex Ltd. & Vita Cortex Packaging Ltd. attained ISO 9002 registration.

1998 Longhaul Technologies Ltd. was formed. Located in Cork, this company manufactures interactive Air Cushion solutions for aircraft seating, mainly for the long distance travel market.

2000 saw the development of a new warehouse at our Belfast site, allowing further expansion of the Wholesale Furniture Division.

2002 Cortex Packaging was relocated to Kinsale Road. The Vicars Road site was upgraded to accommodate our new retail furniture outlet, Waters & Gold.

2004 The Cortex For Comfort range of beds and ancillary products was launched. See banner on Home Page.
